Turnhout Troefke

‘Troefke’ which means ‘trump card’ is the only real regional cake from Turnhout and is a butter biscuit with a chocolate bottom in the shape of a playing card.

The inventor is the chocolatier Guy Pas. His recipe was the deserved winner of a contest to give Turnhout its own biscuit. Every week, more than seven kilos of Turnhout Troefkes are sold. At Christmas this increases to twenty-four kilos.

The Turnhout Troefke biscuits are only available at Chocolatier Pas. The shop is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 9 am to 12.30 pm and from 1.30 pm to 6 pm.
