Vespa route along Den Doodendraad

Do you want to commemorate the silencing of the guns of World War I in a special way? Then ride a Vespa to De Doodendraad (the death wire). During the war, the Kempen balanced on the border between war and peace, between occupied Belgium and the neutral Netherlands. The Germans installed a high voltage wire along the boundary. Today a Vespa tour takes you along the most memorable places from this part of WWI history. Thematic information boards inform you about the horrors of yesteryear. And what happens if you scan the QR code? Then you will hear additional war stories.

How does it work?

On your Italian 'wasp' you tear through 60 kilometres of history. Besides Turnhout other Kempen gems are on your route. Have a look at the route. Are you hungry? Spread your picnic blanket for lunch in a green setting. If you wish, let your pack of regional tasters be prepared in advance.

Don’t have a Vespa? Reserve your trip at least two days in advance via info@vespaverhuurkempen.be. As the driver you pay 79 euros for a whole day and 55 for half a day. An additional passengers will pay 10 euros.
